1. Where are you from?
I am from San Jose, CA.
2. What do you teach at ADPP?
I teach ballet, tap, jazz, tumbling and mom/daughter jazz.
3. How long have you been with the Dance
Action program at ADPP?
I have been with the Dance Action program for 7 years!
4. Which past Dance Action performance was your favorite?
It’s a tie between Beauty & the Beast and The Wizard of Oz.
5. What do you like most about your job?
I like that my job is doing something that I’ve always loved.
6. What is your teaching background and experience?
I started dancing when I was three and I have been teaching for ten years. I
danced at many studios in the San Jose area including Sheri’s Born To Dance
and Ballet International. In high school I was a member of the IndepenDance
Company. I apprenticed with the Jose Limon West Modern Dance Company from
age 15-18. I was also a member of the Phaze 2 dance team in college.
Throughout the years, I have participated in countless dance competitions
and have performed at venues including the Flint Center, San Jose Center for
the Performing Arts, Cabrillo Music Festival and The Oracle Arena.
7. What do you think is special about
ADPP?
I think that the ADPP Dance Action program is special because it really
focuses on nurturing every child’s love of dance in a pressure free
environment.
8. What is the last book you read to
yourself?
The Velveteen Rabbit.
9. What is the funniest thing a child has
said/done in your class?
One of my students just recently said that she wished she could take me home
and share me with her family for Easter.
10. What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, going on long walks with my
dog and spending time with friends.
11. What achievement are you most proud of?
I’m proud that I get to give the gift of dance to my students.
12. Are there going to be any surprises
in this year’s Wizard of Oz performance?
It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser! There are too many surprises to list. I
guess you’ll have to wait and see!
